Island of the Arts  –  Sherkin Island is home to over 30 working artists. Each year the artists welcome the public to view their work inspired by their unique homeland. Island artists have for years been creating work drawing from the people and the landscapes that make up this southerly Island along the Wild Atlantic Way.

On 17th June the  island transforms the Community Centre into a wonder world of craft, sculptures and paintings depicting the year round happenings of Sherkin.

Sherkin Island Gathering Festival June 17th and 18th The Gathering is a two day event packed with exhibitions, opens studios, self guided walks, dancing and workshops. On Sunday guests will be treated to islander-run workshops  in photography, knitting and poetry.  Robbie Murphy ,reknowned for capturing the  beauty West Cork Islands   ,will give one of the photography workshops.

This years exhibition curated by Mona O’Driscoll will be opened on Saturday 17th June at 2.30p.m by Ann Davoren, Director of the West Cork Arts Centre .
